West Kootenay Brain Injury Association Thank You Wall
On June 22, 2015, West Kootenay Brain Injury Association received $10,000 through the Critical Funding Grant. 2015 has been a year of great transition for our agency. Since our inception, WKBIA has had an administrative contract with the Interior Health Authority. As part of this contract, all of our infrastructure was included- office space for ED and Admin, computers, phone, mail, etc.
WKBIA found new office space, and needed to set up services from scratch. The board of directors voted to allocate the grant money to assist with our office set up. WKBIA wanted to present a professional, accessible, cohesive and welcoming space for our community and members. With the support from the Alliance and the Provincial Government, we have been able to create a space that our members access for groups, can drop in to for a visit, a coffee, or to access a computer to find forms, or to look for jobs or housing. The majority of the purchases made are one-time only and will serve the association and our membership for many, many years to come.
Our previous space saw the ED and main office housed in completely separate offices out of sight from each other. There was a real sense of disconnect for staff and members. Our new space houses the ED and Admin in one space. As an organization we are more connected. Our new board table has plenty of space for groups or for individual members to come in and have a nice space to work in. The chairs are easy to maneuver, are stable for our members with mobility and balance difficulties, and are a mix of armless and with arms to accommodate different shapes and sizes.
On behalf of our members, our staff, our community, and our board, I want to say thank you for supporting our transition and transformation.
Respectfully,
Robyn Bogue, MOC, RCC
Executive Director
